PUNGGOL POINT COVE, SINGAPORE

Attained TOP in 2023

Recorded as one of the most over-subscribed residential launches in the Housing & Development Board's (HDB) history, Punggol Point Cove is the brainchild of Ar. Jonathan and his team of Architects back in Surbana Jurong Consultants Pte Ltd.

The multi-disciplinary team successfully won this Project after going through a grueling 2-stage Expression of Interest (EOI) by HDB. Subsequent to Waterway Sunrise and Plantation Grange, this is the 3rd design competition project which Ar. Jonathan Lim won with his team during his stint in Surbana Jurong.

The Project concept emphasizes a total recall of gentle-flowing waves of the seafront thru its curvilinear spatial configuration and facade design. The team conquered the challenge of granting every residential unit a sea view while maximizing the number of units on site. One could walk from any point on a grade to the shore due to the design porosity, while communal activities are also granted an elevated sea view on roof gardens.

Due to the design concept of fluidity across the whole Project, Ar. Jonathan managed to rationalize unconventional geometries for the facade, building form, and communal facilities. Rationalized thinking and organization is the key to the successful launch of this Project. Below are a few examples of how Ar. Jonathan applied these to the Project.

The Punggol Point Cove connects the pedestrian thoroughfare along the historical trial of Punggol Road to the coastline via its porous pedestrian network and its neighbor, Punggol Point Woods. This was the brainchild of Ar. Jonathan and his team, benefiting generations in many years to come.
